A Ryder to Remember ! Where was ESPN?

The SGC 2008 Ryder Cup was an event this year to top all events. A big statement maybe? Think about it!
The weeks leading up to the Ryder found the committee and other supporting members working hard behind the scenes to make this year’s Ryder Cup the one to remember. Our official opening of the 2008 SGC Ryder Cup set the tone for the weekend’s golf, as everyone gathered at the new GooBoo, Big Bamboo Walking Street. A special thanks to Lachlan and his professional staff who were running in their fastest Nike’s to serve our every wish. The night went well, drinks flowed and the new electronic facilities at Big Bamboo made the Pairings draw easy for everyone. Some kicked on to the Wee hours analyzing every tactic, choice of team player and pairing. It was great to see the 2 Captains socializing – some more than others. The bus left at 5.30am on the Friday morning from down town and did the normal pickup of hung over sleepy heads. (What happened to Amyboo?) No matter how hard you try, it really doesn’t matter in the end when Mother Nature kicks in. Can you believe it, after all these weeks of reasonably predictable weather, with even the days leading up to day one’s play, being calm and fine, - what happens? – Down she came. Rain , Rain and more f#*king Rain. Still, all team players arrived in great shape ready for Tee Off. Did I say everyone??? Where the Hell, is ROW’s Captain? Who last saw Kim? Hand’s went up and it was soon established that he was last seen closing the Big Bamboo at just after 4.00am. Regardless, the matches had to start and start they did. The Caddies all looked spectacular, thanks to one of SGC’s major sponsors, LINCOLN ELECTRIC , who kindly provided individual Caddie Bibs for all players. For a moment there, we all felt like Pro’s on the Tee Box as names were called, cameras flashed and away we went. Luckily, Kim’s body made it slightly late but in time to catch his group. His mind followed on later.
