April 26th Monthly Medal at Lake Hill

Our first visit down to Zhejiang Province & the lovely Lake Hill for the April Monthly Medal, brought one or 2 small hiccups, mainly to do with transport. There were very clear instructions given to the bus company that the driver should follow our instructions & the approx time to get to Lake Hill is 1 n half hours, those of who drove & followed the instructions had no problems & arrived in good time. However our bus which set off at 8.30 for an 11.30am tee off was nowhere to be seen at tee off time, causing bus riders to be somewhat irate. Not half as irate as our ex chairman Rob Muir, who missed his alarm call & valiantly attempted to join us by cab, only to be hit with a major traffic jam on the outer ring road resulting in chairman more turning back & go home for a non golfing Saturday.

SGC really appreciates the efforts made by Eric, Eva & all the staff to ensure that we all got round the course despite being approx 1 hour late. Arranging a semi shot gun start was awesome - thanks guys.

We played the new phoenix course, which in my opinion is somewhat easier than the old course. The course was in great shape & we had some great scores. Results can be seen on our tee/times results page. We have to mention that we had a few starring roles ..Matt Burke managed to get on in 2 on 18 & sink the put for his first ever EAGLE. Wim Jannsen brought the 100 barrier for the first time. Jim Logan smashed the field in DIV 1 winning by 9 points.. Well done, but watch those handicaps closely boys.

The journey back was no better for the bus riders, another 3 hour trip, but with plenty of wine courtesy of Trios & beer from Big Bamboo & the beautiful coast road view, there were not too many complaints.
