Welcome to the Shanghai Golfers Club

sgc logoThe Shanghai Golfers Club started on a casual basis during the mid 90's by a group of dedicated social golfers who recognized the need to bring golfers together every weekend to play well organized competitions based on an approved handicap system. The Shanghai Golfers Club - SGC - was formally brought together in 2001.

The SGC are a group of male and female social golfers who play every weekend in all weather conditions. We believe in playing to the R&A Rules of Golf, in mixing with all nationalities, and having an enjoyable competitive game. The SGC welcome all standards of player from a social to low handicapper, but we insist that the individual adhere to the rules of our club and to the rules of golf. If you are interested in joining us, please visit the membership page.

We have a busy yearly Tour Schedule that has been preplanned by your committee, so please visit the Tour Schedule page. For those of you who are lucky enough to play mid week, we normally play on the Wednesday.

John Deere - 59/60?! PDF Print E-mail
Written by Chief

With opening rounds by Goydos and Stricker of 59 & 60, the whole of Fantasy golf scouring was sent deep into the red zone.  Several players that actually picked teams still ended up with less then 10 points for the opening round, making for a wide spread betwixt lead and lag.

Happy here though, that after two weeks of misery, and not being able to get a fourball into the weekend, finally did, and a win shall take.  I'll grab a sleeve of Bridgestones from the garage!

This weekend is The Open Championship; and it looks as though weather will play a significant role at St. Andrews this weekend, unlike their last two championships.  Good luck with your picks this weekend, looks as through the field will get roughed up quite a bit.

July 10th @ Tianma PDF Print E-mail

Once again, the weather threatened, but was kind.  A warm humid start with spots of sunshine vaporizing the moisture ladened fairways, then a bit of a breeze on the back made for a great day of July golf.  When we find a dry moment amongst the Plum Rains, thankful for the weather we had.

With over 50 golfers hitting the course, Janne, T-Rex and Henri  led the way with solid low gross scores on the day.  Big Red, yours truly and Emmanuel took the low net wine and balls with 67's and a 68.  (tournament manager results will get loaded sometime later).

The highlight of the day though was Fred Francois, scoring his first Hole in One on Tianma #5.  Firing a pitching wedge from 138, over the bunker on the left side, the hole was out of view from the players, but Fred's ball found the bottom.  An on that theme, Fred found the bottom a many a cup long into the evening.  I just happened to 5000 in my pocket that afternoon, so off the the GuBoo we went.  The rumba was turned over to Ryan & the girls, a heavy flow of libations ensued.  Fred was properly toasted before being tucked into a taxi, a great finish to a good day.  Thanks to all for coming out against the pessimistic wx forecast, and thanks again for making a lively party for Fred.

AT&T National PDF Print E-mail

Tiger came to defend, but not.  Justin Rose came to redeem, and did.  The AT&T brought out a good field to a Donald Ross course while the home course goes through renovation.  Our favorite Pit Master, Saloon Boss and SGC sponsor Ken Walker redeemed his previous weekends picks, taking on Justin Rose and J.B. Holmes, his Bubba's Bunkers team collecting 204 points and a week 2 win!  Congrats Ken, come on out and play with the SGC to collect your balls!

In second with another strong team pick was Alan Bog's Shanghai Hackers at 192.  Backing up his previous event win, Alan stretched out an 18 point lead after the second event of the Summer season.  You're making the pro's at PGATOUR.com look daft mate!  Well done!
